What can I gain from participating in the Chamberlain Chats program?

Students can receive advice on academic and career decisions, gain real-world insights into the nursing and healthcare professions, and learn from alumni volunteers who have successfully navigated their careers.

What is expected of me as a student?

Expectations for students are:

  1. Ask questions!
  2. Seek guidance and advice for professional development.
  3. Act on expert and objective advice.
  4. Maintain mutual trust and respect and confidentiality.
  5. Taking ownership of their personal growth.
  6. Attend all scheduled meetings.
  7. Be receptive to feedback.

What is the is time commitment?

Each chat typically lasts 20–30 minutes, depending on the topic and agreement with the alumni volunteer.

How will I be matched with an alumni volunteer?

Students have the flexibility to review all alumni profiles and message them based on shared Interests, areas of study, career goals, or topics of interest. This ensures you can connect with an alum who best fits your needs and goals!

Is there a limit to how many alumni volunteers I can connect with?

Students can connect with up to 2 alumni at a time. You can request chats with multiple alumni volunteers as long as they align with your goals and availability. Once you have finished a chat and released from the pair, you can continue to review and message other alumni profiles. Either the alumni volunteer or student can release the pair.

What if I want to continue meeting with the alumni volunteer after our chat?

If you and the alumni volunteer agree that you want to continue the relationship, that is fantastic! All matches will be automatically released after 60 days. We recommend exchanging contact information prior to releasing the connection to maintain the relationship.

I sent an alumni volunteer a message and didn't receive a response. What should I do?

  1. Wait a Few Days: Alumni are busy professionals and may need time to respond.
  2. Follow Up: Politely send a follow-up message after a week.
  3. Reach Out for Assistance: Contact the Chamberlain Chats program coordinator for help in getting connected or finding a different volunteer.

Is there a limit to how many times I can request a quick chat with the same alumni volunteer?

There’s no hard limit, but it’s best to be considerate of their time and availability and ensure each chat covers new questions or topics to maximize the interaction.

Yes, all Chamberlain students are welcome to participate! This program is designed to support students at various stages of their academic and professional journey.
